When I was around 10 years old I had my front tooth knocked out whilst playing with golf clubs with a friend in my back garden. The golf club hit me in the mouth and sliced half of my front tooth. It was only days later that we found the other half of my tooth lodged deep in my swollen lip. Since the accident, i had lots of dental work to fix my broken tooth and I was left with a lump in my bottom lip which always bothered me. This insecurity was only heightening by the odd comments or questions I’d receive – “what’s that?” “How did that happen?” And “you have something on your face”.
In around 2016 I noticed fillers becoming more popular and thought this could be the perfect way of finally getting rid of the little lump which was bothering me so much. So, I visited a clinic for my first ever treatment. Unfortunately, I was not very happy with my results. Although the treatment had got rid of the lump, the filler had distorted the shape of my lips. I lost the definition of my Cupid’s bow and it looked very unnatural. I didn’t feel that I resembled myself anymore and this was not what I wanted at all. So I made the decision to leave my lips alone and to slowly let the product dissolve over time.
Fast forward to July 2018, and I had my first consultation and treatment with Dr Rupert at Viva Skin Clinics. I had heard about Dr Rupert through friends and fellow bloggers who were very happy with their results and the fact that Dr Rupert produces a more natural look.
When I attended my appointment with Dr Rupert he was absolutely lovely and instantly made me feel comfortable. He was super friendly and handed me a mirror and asked me what I was thinking. I told him about my past experience and what I would like to correct. I explained that I didn’t want my lips to be any bigger, and I didn’t want to change my face, I just wanted to correct the shape. He took his time to analyse my the area and the dimensions of my face and recommended that we strategically place less that 0.5ml of product to achieve this.
Dr Rupert’s knowledgable approach instantly made me feel that I was in capable hands. Before the treatment he applied some numbing cream and then step by step explained everything he was doing as he went along. This put me at ease and made me feel like I was well informed each step of the way.
Directly after the treatment I was handed a mirror and I’ve got to say-I freaked out a tiny bit! I was very red and swollen. Dr Rupert sensed I was nervous and explained that the swelling is normal and He also gave me an ice pack and explained that it will be swollen for the next 2 weeks.
…and he was right. I was very swollen and has some redness and bruising. After the first day, I was able to cover a lot of this with make and up after about a week, a lot of the redness and bruising had gone. By the second week, I felt the swelling had gone down completely.
I’m now very happy with the results of my treatment with Dr Rupert. I have since seen many family and friends who haven’t even noticed a change which is exactly what I asked for. My lips are now the shape they were before, with no little lump bothering me. Now that they’re corrected, I won’t be touching them again – thank you Dr Rupert!
