HOTEL INDIGO – LONDON, KENSINGTON

If you’ve been keeping up to date with my Instagram, you’ll have seen that I had much needed break last weekend at Hotel Indigo in Kensington. As much as I love to travel, sometimes you don’t need to go far for a little getaway- so we decided to be tourists in our own town for the weekend.

Sitting pretty amongst the iconic white town houses of West London, Hotel Indigo is the perfect place for a city break. It’s only a stone’s throw away from Earl’s Court station which made getting to the hotel and around London so easy!

Check In

Our stay was absolute bliss from start to finish. Check-in was super simple and took no longer than a few minutes. The staff were very friendly from the moment we walked in, which always makes your stay so much more comfortable knowing that you’re in the hands of people who care about their guests.

After checking in, we then took a little elevator to our room, which is pretty helpful when you pack as heavily as I do. It took us no time to find our room as everything was very well laid out.

The hotel itself is beautiful and a lot bigger on the inside than it appears to be on the outside. Everything is immaculately kept. The décor throughout the hotel is light and welcoming. The door of each room looks like the front door of a London home, which I thought was a really cute touch.

The Room and Bathroom

Our room was lush, perfectly pristine with the same London vibe that resounds throughout the entire hotel. The moment I dropped my bags in the room I received a call from reception on the room’s phone just to check that everything was satisfactory. I love personal touches like this and it made me feel even more welcome.

We had a beautiful view overlooking the gardens across the road- so pretty!

The en suite bathroom was also spacious and immaculate, packed with travel sized versions of my favourite Aveda products. I’m often very weary of hotel soaps and shampoos as some can be very harsh on my skin and hair but I was thrilled to see little Aveda bottles perfectly laid out on the bathroom counter and a magnifying mirror to meet all my makeup needs in the morning. The towels were lush, bathrobes and slippers provided were super soft to touch.

I made full use of the room, spending the entire evening in my cosy bathrobe provided by the hotel and chilling out watching TV and obviously overdosing on the hotel’s free wi-fi (typical blogger, eh?). The mini fridge had some goodies which we enjoyed, I obviously went straight for the chocolate and these were all replenished the next day when housekeeping came. The wardrobe in the room was spacious and perfect for me to hang up all my outfits I had planned out for the weekend’s activities. The bed was HUGE and super comfy, with convenient plugs by the bed to charge my phone and light switches so I didn’t even need to get up to switch the lights off before bed.

Breakfast

On Sunday I was delighted to stock up on tasty treats at breakfast from Theo’s Simple Italian downstairs. I was happy to enjoy my yummy breakfast in bed which was perfect for a lazy Sunday morning! There was anything and everything to choose from- from croissants to yoghurts and eggs any which way you’d like them. I was absolutely spoilt for choice and I had to try it all and it was all so scrumptious!

Theo’s Simple Italian

By lunchtime I was somehow peckish again and we decided to stay local and eat at Theo’s Simple Italian which you can find within the hotel on the ground floor. I’ve heard good reviews of the restaurant from friends and I know its named after chef Theo Randall, so I wanted to try it for myself.

Firstly, the service was exceptional. Despite arriving on a buzzing Sunday lunchtime, the staff were extremely attentive and friendly. Secondly, let’s talk FOOD. Being an Italian restaurant, we decided to put Theo’s to the test and ordered pasta and it was the best pasta I’ve had in years!

I had the veal and it was not only presented beautifully, but tasted exquisite. You know you’re enjoying a good meal when everyone at the table goes silent and focuses on the food! The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente and after I finished I felt content without feeling overwhelmed by the portion.

I cannot emphasise just how great the food was at Theo’s- if I could eat pasta there every day I would! Definitely one of the best meals I’ve had in years. Not to mention it was made that little smidgen better by the waitress grating fresh parmesan on top. My fave!

Theo’s is perfect if you’re going for a big meal that will keep all the family content and it’s also a cute spot for a romantic lunch. You can’t go wrong!

Check Out

Check out the next morning was just as easy as checking in. Within a minute, we were off on our way to Earl’s Court station and back home on Monday.
